Sustainable energy management

Our future-oriented corporate policy – energy extraction from biomass – shows responsibility both to man and the environment.  Our operations are exclusively supplied with regenerative energies from biomass cogeneration installations or biomass thermal power plants.  Excess energy is fed into the public grid for general use.
Energy from biomass – we exclusively use wood bark, wood residues and untainted, recycled used wood – means energy extraction under a neutral CO2 balance.

CO2 neutrality means that only the quantity of CO2 is released during burning that is bound from the atmosphere as the tree grows.

For example, with thermal use of a cubic meter of Spruce logs, 700 kg CO2 are released.  This corresponds exactly to the quantity that the timber has stored during growth.

The use of untainted, recycled used wood for energy production contributes substantially to solving disposal problems and Rettenmeier thereby closes the resource cycle for its products.
