Quality laminated wood in daily use

QLH-Duo-plus® and QLH-Trio-plus® are timber construction products for versatile functions and potential applications in modern timber construction.  Specially developed for use in the visible, structural area, they combine bearing strength and good appearance in particular.  In addition, they are a true, favourable alternative to glue lam beams and a meaningful addition to structural solid wood KVH^®-1plus^®.

Quality laminated timber is extremely stable in shape, non-distorting and can be calculated, planned and applied virtually distortion and crack free – so it always fits.  Technical dry kilns saving on chemical wood protection and grading of the structure in hazards class 0 (DIN 68800).

QLH-Duo-plus®/QLH-Trio-plus® trusses are aesthetic lightweights with high bearing strength that can be quickly and economically processed.  They facilitate long-lasting damage-free and demanding wood structures such as complete bearing structures, building raising, additions or extensions.

Quality laminated wood consists of two (duo beams) or three (trio beams) selected laminas, which are glued together to form a beam.  That is why these quality products from the Rettenmeier Zunftholz^® range are called QLH-Duo-plus^® and QLH-Trio-plus^®. 

Technical drying to 15 % wood humidity guarantees increased shape and dimensional accuracy and reduces cracking.  The use of colourless glue creates the best prerequisites for application in the visible area.  The static strength of QLH corresponds to that of solid wood under DIN 1052.

Manufacturing in the second product generation

The efficient production process for quality laminated wood is subject to ongoing internal and external monitoring.  The individual laminations are carefully selected and joined lastingly together through finger-jointing (in DIN 68140-1 and DIN EN 385). The subsequent gluing of the long sections with a highly stress resistant, formaldehyde-free glue and material sparing presses guarantees remarkable dimensional stability of QLH-Duo-plus^® and QLH-Trio-plus^®.

To ensure the highest surface quality, each QLH beam is planed four sides on a fine rotoplane in a CNC controlled high performance planing installation and then immediately individually stretch wrapped.  Moreover, it is understood that our duo and trio beams are produced under the general building supervision licence Z-9.1-440.

Quality laminated wood QLH-Duo-plus^® and QLH-Trio-plus^® are modern construction timber products produced in the Rettenmeier Zunftholz^® Tradition – “Quality from the master craftsmen”.

Both external checks and also the ongoing internal monitoring or marking of the QLH-Beams form part of a multi-layer overlapping quality assurance system which ultimately guarantees the consistent high quality of our overall Zunftholz^® range.
