Competence in wood

Owing to our regional connections and our claim for sustainable and environmentally friendly production we mostly process home-grown wood types. These are fir, Douglas-fir, pine and larch.

Each of these woods has different properties to be considered during processing and refinement and which are preferred for different types of use. Below we introduce you briefly to the home-grown wood processed by us.

Spruce

  • good mechanical properties
  • glues very well
  • shiny gloss on planed surface
  • environmentally friendly and easy to dispose
  • Wood from the region

Other characteristics

Spruce is versatile in use: With its good mechanical properties and its easy surface treatment it is considered an excellent "all-rounder" – and can be used in many different product branches. The light coloured needle wood has straight fibres without core colouration and is therefore a good substrate for painting. Since spruce hardly reacts chemically, it can be easily combined with metal materials, such as copper, brass or iron.

Douglas-fir

  • good durability
  • long-lasting and resistant
  • high strength
  • good static properties
  • decorative looks
  • warm and contrasting colours
  • environmentally friendly and easy to dispose
  • Wood from the region

Other characteristics

The Douglas-fir is easy to work with and due to its natural resin content has almost a "natural wood protection" making it resistant to organisms damaging to wood. Therefore this wood can also be used outdoors without chemical wood protection. Typical for the Douglas-fir is its changing warm reddish colour.

Pine

  • high strength
  • good static properties
  • very long life due to boiler pressure impregnation class 4
  • decorative looks
  • Wood from the region

Other characteristics

Through our high quality boiler pressure impregnation with an officially approved impregnating agent we achieve a very high durability in our KDI pine construction timber in the colours teak and green. This timber can be easily installed outdoors up to the usage class IV (in ground contact).

Larch

  • good durability
  • long-lasting and resistant
  • high strength
  • good static properties
  • environmentally friendly and easy to dispose
  • easy to work with
  • Wood from the region

Other characteristics

European larch has largely similar characteristics to the Douglas-fir and is one of the oldest types of wood used outdoors. Its mineral-high contents make it durable and long-lasting. The warm reddish colour and the decorative grain give the larch its characteristic looks.
