OUR CONTRIBUTION TO CLIMATE PROTECTION

IN THE WOOD INDUSTRY

Together with the Gesellschaft für Klimaschutz für die Holzindustrie - GKH GmbH, we have drawn up a CO2 balance sheet in accordance with the GHG Protocol. This enables us to design and effectively implement long-term reduction measures. By participating in the Climate Protection Initiative for the Wood Industry, we have committed ourselves to reducing our emissions and are thus making an important contribution to climate protection.

We have had a greenhouse gas balance drawn up with our participation. On this basis, we can develop and implement our CO2 reduction measures. This will enable all six European company sites to reduce emissions in the long term. Sustainability has a long tradition in our more than 70-year corporate history. This includes the fact that the renewable raw material wood for our products for building and living comes from regional forests and sustainable forestry. By cooperating with the HDH, we would like to set an example for climate protection and hope that other companies will also become partners of the Initiative Klimaschutz Holzindustrie.

PREPARATION OF OUR CO₂ BALANCE SHEET

The first step toward climate protection was the preparation of our CO₂ balance sheet to record our CO₂ emissions from the individual process steps and thus identify reduction potential. The CO₂ balance is carried out in accordance with the internationally recognized GHG Protocol standard. This is a methodological standard for CO₂ accounting on which other standards are based. The GHG Protocol meets the quality criteria of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy.

INDIVIDUAL REDUCTION POTENTIALS

Through the cooperation with the Gesellschaft für Klimaschutz für die Holzindustrie - GKH GmbH, we have obtained individual reduction potentials and options for avoiding and reducing our CO₂ emissions and now want to implement these internally step by step.

CONSTANT REDUCTION OF OUR GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

In order to verify a constant reduction of our operational greenhouse gas emissions, we will carry out a regular 2-yearly repetition of the balancing. This will enable us to monitor the efficiency of savings measures and track the degree of achievement of operational climate targets.

THE MAIN ASSOCIATION OF THE GERMAN WOOD INDUSTRY

The HDH is at the center of a network of the German and European wood industry. The initiative CLIMATE PROTECTION WOOD INDUSTRY is a commitment of the industry to the climate protection goals of the EU as well as the sustainability goals of the UN.
