In line with our rettenmeier® zero-waste principle, we also utilise all sawmill by-products and bark.
In other words: our raw material wood is 100% utilised.

As a result, our entire production process makes a significant contribution to active climate protection. By processing the raw material wood into high-quality, durable building products, we create CO2 reservoirs that permanently store the carbon removed from the atmosphere. In this way, we create products with added value for our customers and adhere to our zero-waste principle - no chip remains unused.

SORTING

As a natural product, the growth of wood is influenced by numerous factors, making each log unique. In order to be able to process it as a standardized material, it is sorted using state-of-the-art measuring systems. 

OPTIMUM CUTTING PATTERN

We also rely on precise and, above all, environmentally friendly process technologies in our production facilities. By measuring the sections in 3D, the most rewarding cutting pattern is created individually for each log. Each log is thus cut in such a way as to minimize unnecessary sawmill by-products.

The saw by-products from the sawing process are all carefully prepared and then processed into our ENERGY WOOD biofuels.

BIOMASS POWER PLANT

We also operate biomass power plants in most of our locations, in which we convert the bark from our production into useful CO2-neutral heat. This enables us to generate electricity and heat which we use ourselves and also feed into the public grid. 

DRYING

The wood is dried to the desired moisture content in our drying plants. Only heat generated from renewable energies in our own biomass cogeneration plants is utilised.
