Sustainability
NOT JUST A BUZZWORD
At rettenmeier®, we work with the natural raw material wood that has been available to humans for thousands of years. Technical progress and new requirements and uses have led to the development of an increasing number of timber products. The extremely increasing desire for natural and renewable wood as a raw material makes balancing the consumption and regrowth of the raw material so important - which is why we attach great importance to sustainable forestry.
As a result, our entire production process makes a significant contribution to active climate protection. By processing the raw material wood into high-quality, durable building products, we create CO2 reservoirs that permanently store the carbon removed from the atmosphere. We create products with added value for our customers and adhere to our zero-waste principle - no chip remains unused.
ACTIVE CLIMATE PROTECTION THREEFOLD
1. Our raw material wood removes harmful CO2 from the atmosphere.
2. We then process it sustainably into CO2 storage and thereby extend the storage of the contained carbon – a low-energy house in wood construction, for example, relieves the atmosphere of around 80 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
3.Our rettenmeier® PREMIUM OF WOOD replaces other energy-intensive materials such as steel or concrete, which produce enormous quantities of CO2 during production.
BIOMASS POWER PLANT
In our drying plants, the wood is dried to the desired moisture content and then checked again for the agreed quality. Our latest high-performance channel dryer in Wilburgstetten enables package length-independent feeding and fully automatic continuous operation with maximum efficiency in the drying process. Only heat generated from renewable energies in our own biomass power plants is utilised.
